Spice Up Your 2017 Summer with These 7 Swank Looks
It’s already too hot to breathe out so suffice it to say we’re ready for the Summer 2017 collection to grace us with its presence… in our wardrobes… like, now.
Obviously, Spring/Summer collections have proven to be as fabulous as we’ve expected them to be; we love that there was something for everyone, and we’re overjoyed to start our personal journey towards the best outfit choices one could scoop.
Assuming you are planning to pull a stunner on everyone just as you did all summers before, here’s a roundup of our favorite options to get you some outfit ideas so you can start plotting your style for this season:
Tell it like it is
When the ultra-talented Maria Grazia Chiuri sent her slogan tee down the runway at her Christian Dior debut, we were immediately smitten. Whether or not you agree that we should all be feminists (we, of course, do), this statement tee was so powerful that everyone talked about it (and they still do). In the same manner, House of Holland’s went with a “Free to Roam” tee, then there are Prabal Gurung‘s wonderful tees with literary and political quotes and of course Haider Ackermann‘s “Be Your Own Hero” tops. If your budget doesn’t really support your runway obsessions, you can always make your own custom-made shirt and have a meaningful quote imprinted on it.
Channel that creativity within, already!
Have a fit life
Whether you are a sports lover (and sportswear) or not, 2016 made you love it… if you wanted to be on point, that is. Can we say 2016 was officially the year of the hoodie, athleisure, baggy and sportswear with a street twist? We can. So what about 2017? Athleisure was killing it the whole year and we aren’t surprised it’s still here. It’s a little less street than in 2017, and a bit more sporty. If there are any sports enthusiasts among you, you’re probably jumping with joy as you are reading this.
Don’t forget romance
Romantic patchwork is back and it’s everything you want to wear this summer!
After Demna Gvasalia showed patchwork florals, we immediately knew we wanted to wear it! No, it’s not hippie dippy at all and everything about it screams romance, light feeling and summer. This happens every time… oh well, call it the Balenciaga effect.
Wear your florals in a form of floaty dresses at labels like Rag & Bone and No. 21 (with sequins no less). If you are more on the vintage side, immediately start digging through your mother’s old clothes or vintage stores!
Do it like Ashley
Body positivity that has marked most of 2016 (if not all) has gradually continued to wow us in 2017 as well. With models like the gorgeous Ashley Graham plus size got a whole other meaning; these days it stands for strong women, exceptional fashion style, nurtured beauty and a smile that could kill you. If you are curvy and want to show your gorgeous body off, take inspiration from plus size models all around the world and craft your own style. We love the idea of maxi dresses or separates, especially if you are chasing an effortless chic look. With a right pair of fitted high-waist skirt or denim shorts and a range of plus size tops, you will definitely look the part.
Wear a robe IRL
After all the pajama dressing and slip dresses for two straight seasons, it was only expected we’ll start wearing robes. 2017 will offer them in a range—from evening appropriate to uber laid-back. And by “evening,” we mean an actual night out, not in with all the chill… and Netflix.
Show off that shoulder
The off-the-shoulder phenomenon keeps rising and it’s not going anywhere: whether it’s one-shoulder dresses (short or long) or the one-shoulder tops – everything’s up for grabs. The prints, colors and patterns? Fabulous.
Go to France
Decide to give your vibrant stripes a chance and wear them as bold as possible. This summer, they’re everywhere and in every form possible.
