Sometimes when I look at you, I feel I’m gazing at a distant star. It’s dazzling, but the light is from tens of thousands of years ago. Maybe the star doesn’t even exist anymore. Yet sometimes that light seems more real to me than anything” wrote H. Murakami in one of his books. The series of images invites you on a journey back in time.

JJ Jordan is a London based graphic designer and photographer passionate about portrait photography, at the same time a great fan of the Dutch Golden Age painters such as Hals, Vermeer and Rembrandt. Their works inspired him to recreate the same mood and painterly feel in a series of studio portraits. Although the inspiration goes back to the 17th century the series has a definite modern twist.
