Miss Ellen Jane
What’s your name and where are you based?
My name is Miss Ellen Jane, I am a model from Co Durham which is situated in the North East of England.
How did you get in to modelling and how long have you been doing it?
I always wanted to be a model because I’m quite tall (5’11) family and friends always said I should try it. It took me till I was in my 20’s before I gave it a go. One of friends asked me to model for her clothing range and it went from their really. I’d say on and off around 3 years I find it totally addictive!
What type of modelling do you do and enjoy?
I currently do pinup, fashion, fitness, cosplay and swimwear. I’m open to something a bit wacky and different. I specialise in pinup and fashion I feel very comfortable in both environments. It’s good to step out of your comfort zone now and again!
Do you prefer location or studio shoots?
I’ve been lucky and had great experiences at both studio and location. I would say I prefer location weather pending of course especially in the North East of England!
What do you think makes a good model?
I think in this current climate a good model is someone who can be versatile, have excellent communication skills, is original and most importantly is not a diva. There are pros and cons to modelling just like any job really, social media can help you promote yourself but there is fierce competition. As long as you are enjoying it and having fun that’s what counts! Of course it’s not just about the model, if you have an excellent MUA and Photographer that’s what makes the images special. I’d say it’s a definite team effort!
What’s your favourite shoot you have done to date?
Oh that’s a hard one! I’d have to say this shoot with the amazing Photographer Peter Ali as I love the way he edits the images! I’ve been working with Peter over the last year and I love how versatile he is and passionate about photography. The outfit took me a while to find all the pieces it’s not something I tend to rush. I like to research the look of the particular era or them and really make it my own. The Makeup Artist was the beautiful and talented Laura Lou, she is meticulous and it can take a while before she is happy and that shows the quality of her work.
What’s your favourite style of modelling and why?
I’d say pin up is my favourite I love the classic vintage style when women were elegant and men were gentlemen. It’s quite versatile as there is a range of looks such as rockabilly, retro and vintage. I love scouring vintage fairs for beautiful one off pieces, I’m a clothes and shoe addict! (shhh it’s a secret)
What was the idea about the shoot featured here in Ondine magazine?
This theme was my idea, I feel the 1920’s was such a glamorise era and tends to get replaced by the 1940’s onwards ‘the Marilyn heyday’. I love the ‘Flapper’ look and really wanted to create that Gatsby style. I wanted a sexy but understated look. Peter is always a dream to work with he is organised and has a great sense of humour. We asked Laura Lou to collaborate as she is fantastic at transforming a model in to a character. We always have a good natter and a cup of coffee to!
